Tungsten carbide rates 8.5–9 on the Mohs hardness scale — harder than titanium, harder than steel, harder than any precious metal. Why tungsten?

CERVUS — Scottish Deer Antler — Naturally shed Highland deer antler set into tungsten carbide. Every ring carries a unique grain pattern shaped by the Scottish landscape, from pale ivory to warm honey tones. No two are alike.

CELESTIUM — Meteorite & Cosmos — Genuine Gibeon meteorite inlay set in tungsten carbide. The Widmanstätten pattern visible in each ring is a crystalline structure that formed over 4.5 billion years ago as the meteorite cooled at roughly one degree per million years. Impossible to replicate — every fragment is unique.

WELDWOOD — Whiskey Barrel Wood & More — Reclaimed bourbon barrel oak, Hawaiian koa, and other natural woods paired with tungsten carbide. Each piece of wood carries its own grain, colour, and character — shaped by years in the barrel or centuries of island growth.

How does tungsten compare to other metals?

Tungsten carbide is significantly harder than titanium, stainless steel, gold, and silver. It resists scratching under normal daily wear where other metals show marks within months. The trade-off is that tungsten cannot be resized and, under extreme impact, can fracture rather than bend — though this is rare in everyday wear. For scratch resistance and lasting finish, tungsten is unmatched.

Will the gold or rose gold finish wear off?

The gold and rose gold finishes in the TUNGRA collection use 18K ion plating, which bonds at a molecular level and is significantly more durable than standard PVD coating. Under normal daily wear, the finish will outlast cheaper gold-plated rings by a considerable margin. As with any plated finish, sustained contact with abrasive materials or harsh chemicals over many years may cause gradual wear — but for everyday wear, it is built to last.

How durable are the natural inlays?

All natural inlays — deer antler, meteorite, and wood — are sealed and set within the tungsten band to protect them from everyday wear. Natural materials can be affected by prolonged exposure to water or chemicals, so we recommend removing the ring before swimming, showering, or using cleaning products. Under normal daily wear the inlays will retain their colour and character for years. Meteorite inlays are treated with an additional protective sealant to guard against oxidation.

Is every ring unique?

For rings with natural inlays, yes. Deer antler, meteorite, and wood each have their own grain, pattern, or crystalline structure — no two rings will ever look exactly the same. The pure tungsten bands in the TUNGRA collection are manufactured to a consistent specification, though each is individually finished.

Can tungsten rings be resized?

Tungsten carbide cannot be resized after manufacture. If you're unsure of your size, request a free ring sizer before ordering. For our comfort-fit tungsten bands, if you're between sizes go half a size down — the domed interior wears slightly larger than a flat-fit ring. Are tungsten rings hypoallergenic?

All Foundoria tungsten rings are independently tested to REACH and GPSR standards, with nickel content within the limits considered safe for the vast majority of people. If you have a known severe nickel allergy, it is worth seeking specific guidance before purchasing any metal jewellery. Rings with a polished interior sleeve also reduce direct skin contact with the tungsten itself.

I bought the Strung-Coffee Tungsten with Guitar String ring from Foundoria as a tribute to my father-in-law, a man who spent most of his life with a musical instrument in his hands and, I suspect, a tune permanently stuck in his head. If there was a guitar within a 50-mile radius, he would find it, tune it, and probably improve the evening for everyone in the room.

So when I saw a ring with an actual guitar string running through it, it felt less like buying jewellery and more like buying a tiny wearable concert.

The ring itself is fantastic. The tungsten has that reassuring “I could probably survive a small meteor strike” weight to it, and the coffee-coloured finish gives it a classy look without screaming “rock star trying too hard.” Then there’s the guitar string inside, which is such a brilliant touch that every time I look at it I half expect it to start playing a blues riff.

It’s subtle enough that most people don’t notice it at first… and then when they do, they lean in closer like they’ve discovered some secret Easter egg.

I recently bought the Aurin-Black Tungsten Ring with Rose Gold and I must say, it’s dangerously good-looking.

The ring itself is absolutely beautiful — the black tungsten with the rose gold detail looks fantastic. It fits perfectly too, which is impressive considering my previous attempt at measuring my finger involved a bit of string, a ruler, and a strong sense of optimism.

Customer service was spot on — quick, friendly, and actually helpful (which in today’s world almost deserves a medal).

The only downside is that I now seem to spend a surprising amount of time admiring my own hand like a Victorian aristocrat who’s just discovered jewellery. If you catch me casually resting my hand on tables so the ring is visible… no you didn’t.

All in all, I’m absolutely chuffed with it. Lovely ring, great service, and I’d happily recommend Foundoris to anyone looking for something that makes their hand look significantly more sophisticated than the rest of them.
