Why tungsten?
Gold scratches with normal wear. Silver scratches readily. Titanium develops surface marks over time and needs refinishing. Tungsten doesn't. For anyone who works with their hands, trains regularly, or simply wants a ring that handles daily life without a second thought, tungsten isn't just a practical option — it's the rational one.
Tungsten also has a density that gives it a substantial, reassuring feel on the finger. Not heavy in the sense of being uncomfortable — present in a way that lighter metals aren't. It feels engineered, because it is.
18K ion plating — not all coatings are equal
The gold and rose gold finishes in TUNGRA use 18K ion plating — a plasma process that creates a metallurgical bond between the precious metal and the tungsten substrate. The colour is bonded at a molecular level rather than sitting on top of it, making it significantly more resistant to wear and colour degradation than the standard PVD coating used by most competitors.
The 18K specification means a purer gold alloy and a richer, more accurate colour — the warmth and depth that budget alternatives don't achieve.
The TUNGRA specification
Every ring in the collection is built to the same standard: 8mm width, brushed finish with polished bevelled edges, 1.8mm band thickness, and a polished black comfort-fit interior sleeve. The comfort-fit profile — a slightly domed inner band — reduces skin contact and makes the ring easier to wear for extended periods. The black interior is consistent across all five finishes, giving the inside of the ring its own considered identity.
Five finishes are available: brushed silver (Argentis), gunmetal (Titanis), matte black (Obsidis), 18K gold ion-plated (Aurion), and 18K rose gold ion-plated (Roseon). Each is a different statement made from the same uncompromising foundation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the gold or rose gold finish wear off?
Aurion and Roseon use 18K ion plating, which bonds at a molecular level and is significantly more durable than standard PVD coating. Under normal daily wear, the finish will outlast cheaper gold-plated rings by a considerable margin. As with any plated finish, sustained contact with abrasive materials or harsh chemicals over many years may cause gradual wear — but for everyday wear, it is built to last.
What is the black interior sleeve?
The polished black interior sleeve is consistent across every ring in the TUNGRA collection. The comfort-fit profile means the inside of the band is slightly domed rather than flat, reducing skin contact and making the ring easier to put on and take off. The black finish is a considered design detail — it gives the interior its own identity regardless of which exterior finish you choose.
Which finish is most versatile?
Argentis in brushed silver is the most versatile — it pairs with virtually any watch, clothing, or other ring regardless of metal choice. Aurion in 18K gold suits those who want a warmer tone. Titanis in gunmetal and Obsidis in matte black both have a stronger aesthetic that suits a specific style. Roseon in 18K rose gold pairs particularly well with mixed-metal or minimal styling and has become one of the most popular choices in men's jewellery.
Can tungsten rings be resized?
Tungsten carbide cannot be resized after manufacture. If you're unsure of your size, request a free ring sizer before ordering — measure carefully before confirming your size. If you're between sizes, go half a size down: our comfort-fit design wears slightly larger than a flat-fit ring of the same nominal size. We offer free size exchanges if the first size isn't right. See our ring sizing guide for full guidance.
Is 8mm too wide for everyday wear?
8mm is a popular width for men's rings — substantial enough to sit with presence on the hand without being uncomfortable in daily wear. It suits most hand sizes well. The comfort-fit interior helps with wearability regardless of width.
Are TUNGRA rings hypoallergenic?
All Foundoria tungsten rings are independently tested to REACH and GPSR standards, with nickel content within the limits considered safe for the vast majority of people. If you have a known severe nickel allergy, it is worth seeking specific guidance before purchasing any metal jewellery. The polished black interior sleeve also reduces direct skin contact with the tungsten itself.
