Matching Rings: Made to Suit You Both

Matching Rings: Made to Suit You Both

Matching rings don't have to be identical. Most couples want the same ring made to suit two different hands: a narrower band, a different metal, one shared detail. Here are the pairs we already make, and how to design your own in the Ring Studio.

Matching Rings: Made to Suit You Both

Matching rings mean different things to different couples. For some it's two identical rings, exactly alike. For others it's one design worn by two people, with each ring made to suit the hand it's on.

That might be the same materials with one band a little narrower, or the same idea carried across two different metals. Either way, the point is that you can see at a glance that the rings belong together.

Below are the pairs we already make, and how to design your own in our Ring Studio if none of them is quite right.

What Matching Can Mean

There's no right way to do this. These are the four approaches we see most, and each of them works.

Exactly alike

The same width, the same materials, the same finish, in two sizes. The simplest kind of pair, and lovely when you both like the same ring.

The same design, two widths

The most popular choice. One band at 8mm, the other at 6mm or 4mm, so each sits comfortably on a different hand while still reading as a pair.

The same inlay, two metals

Meteorite in titanium for one of you and in black zirconium for the other. The shared material ties them together, and each ring keeps its own character.

One shared detail

Two quite different rings with one thing in common: an antler sleeve, a gold line, or an inner sleeve in the same colour that only the two of you know is there.

Matching Pairs From Our Range

Each of these is a design we make in more than one version, so the pairing is already worked out for you. Mix the sizes however you need.

Crest deer antler and textured titanium ring
CREST & BROW
Scottish deer antler and textured black titanium, £159 each
The same design in two widths: Crest at 8mm and Brow at 6mm. Both carry a sleeve of naturally shed Scottish deer antler set into rough brushed black titanium, so every pair is a little different from the next.
Nyx black zirconium ring with an offset line of meteorite
NYX & VESPER
Black zirconium and meteorite, from £399
A single 2mm line of genuine Muonionalusta meteorite across brushed black zirconium. Nyx is 8mm with the line set off-centre, and Vesper is a slimmer 4mm with the line running down the middle. Naturally hypoallergenic, which makes it a kind choice for sensitive skin.
Erebus black zirconium ring with a meteorite inlay
ASTRAEUS & EREBUS
Meteorite in titanium and black zirconium, from £699
The same 4mm channel of solid meteorite, set into polished titanium for Astraeus and polished black zirconium for Erebus. One light, one dark, and unmistakably a pair. No two slices of Muonionalusta share a pattern, so each ring is its own.

You'll find the rest of the range in every Foundoria ring. Most designs pair well with a narrower or wider version of themselves, and if the one you love only comes in a single width, the Ring Studio is the way to make its partner.

Designing Your Own Pair in the Ring Studio

The Ring Studio lets you build a ring from the ground up and see it in 3D as you go. It's free, there's no account to make, and it works just as well for two rings as for one.

01

Design the first ring

Choose the metal, the width, the inlay and the finish until it looks the way you'd hoped. Many couples start with whichever of the two rings is the more detailed.

02

Save it

Saving gives you a link that reopens your design exactly as you left it. Send it to your partner and see what they think.

03

Open it again and make the second ring

Change only what needs changing. Usually that's the size and the width, though you might also swap the metal or move the inlay. Everything else stays matched.

04

Send both to us

We'll look over each design and send back a written specification for both rings, with a render and a cross section drawn to scale, along with the price. Nothing is agreed until you've seen it.

A Few Things Worth Thinking About

Width

A ring that looks right on one hand can feel like a lot on another. As a rough guide, 6mm to 8mm suits most larger hands, and 4mm to 6mm sits more comfortably on slimmer fingers. If you're unsure, it's worth trying a ring you already own for a day and noticing how it feels.

Weight

Titanium and black zirconium are noticeably lighter than tungsten. If one of you likes a ring you can feel and the other would rather forget it's there, you can match the look while choosing a different base metal for each. Our tungsten and titanium comparison goes into the difference.

Sizes

Two rings means two sizes to get right. We'll happily post you a free ring sizer, and our ring size guide covers six ways of measuring. If either ring doesn't fit when it arrives, we'll exchange it for the right size.

The detail only you two see

An inner sleeve in a contrasting colour is easy to overlook in the studio, and it's one of our favourite ways to link two rings. From the outside they can be as different as you like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do matching rings have to be the same width?

Not at all. Most couples choose the same design in two widths, so each ring suits the person wearing it.

Can we choose different metals?

Yes. Keep the inlay and finish the same and change the base metal, as with Astraeus and Erebus. The studio makes it easy to try both side by side.

Can I design a pair without knowing my partner's size?

Yes. Design both, save them, and leave the size to settle later. The size only needs confirming before the order goes ahead, and we can send a free ring sizer in the meantime.

How much does a custom pair cost?

We price each design individually, because it depends on the materials and how detailed the face is. You'll have the price for both rings in writing, with the specifications, before anything is agreed.

How long does a custom pair take?

Around eight weeks from confirming the order. Delivery is free, in the UK and worldwide.

Are matching rings only for weddings?

No. People choose matching rings for engagements, promises, anniversaries, or simply because they'd like to wear something that belongs together. It's the same pair of rings whatever the occasion.
